Makado shopping centre in Alblasserdam, south-east of Rotterdam, is a well-established centre with over 40 years of retail trading and a strong local profile. It is situated in a central residential district, close to the historical city centre, with a weekly open-air market in front. Makado underwent a major renovation in 2012 and it now has 37 shops on a single level, including two anchor grocery stores, three restaurants and a number of leading Dutch retailers. It is the most dominant shopping centre in Alblasserdam.
